Doors 20:00, Music 20:30 tickets 10-20 (Sliding Scale)
A special evening with three acts; g a b b r o, the wonderful project of Belgian saxophonist Hanne de Backer, who did a musical walking tour with Andreas Bral, Raf Vertessen and a camel. Next to that we have a first time collaboration between DJ Sniff & drummer Frank Rosaly plus a solo of the Greek-Cypriot violinist Alkistis Misouli.
G A B B R O
G a b b r o is a conglomerate of sounds, musicians and places led by Belgian saxophonist Hanne De Backer. The aim of each production of g a b b r o is to confront improvised music with unexpected locations and explore the impact of these locations and its inhabitants on the music itself.
The latest project of g a b b r o resulted in Hanne De Backer’s first work as a moviemaker: in March ’21 she walked the whole Belgian coastline together with pianist Andreas Bral, Brooklyn based drummer Raf Vertessen, their instruments and a camel. Alongside the road, the trio played improvised sets based on their impressions and the physical challenges they endured. The journey was filmed and recorded and edited into a 45’-musical and poetic documentary AS WE WALK (2023). Tonight this trio will perform live.
