The second Friday of every month = The 2nd Stop is Jupiter!
Plus 1st Stop at BIMHUIS – opening exhibition Capturing the scene by Erik Smits (see below)
Dancing to the wildest live music in town. We have a great line-up for you this Friday! Starting with some “not your average cup of tea”-jazz as we open the doors at 21:00 we’ll continue the trip that promises to become a wonderful bumpy ride. Mola Sylla is with us for a set with Mother Tongue feat. Sun-Mi Hong, Uldis Vitols solo electronics, an homage to the freez jazz of Ames Room (freez jazz? -> Yes freez jazz!), Harald ‘celloman’ Austbø solo, a drum duet of Onno Govaert en Sun-Mi Hong, a version of The Amsterdam Real Book focusing on the music of Cor Fuhler and Sean Bergin. After that we’ll dance into the late night hours with the Eritrean traditionals and Ethiopean jazz grooves of Semere Welday and his krar: give it up for Adulis!
PROGRAM AT SEXYLAND WORLD
MOTHER TONGUE
Singer and percussionist Mola Sylla is in many ways a musical explorer. Sylla’s rhythm and melodic compositions differ from the recognized western patterns and provide surprising twists. Oscar Jan Hoogland is the sound of Amsterdam in person. He is an instant composer and inventor of his own instrument by joining a clavichord, a keyboard instrument from the 17th century, to 220 Volt electricity. He tears like a tornado through the Amsterdam jazz and improv scene. Sun-Mi Hong will be joining them on drums!

Adulis will bring you bustling vibes and smooth dancing!

AND there is also the option of a 1st stop at BIMHUIS with the opening of the exposition of Erik Smits: Capturing the scene, for which you are all heartily invited!
From 18.30 h onwards, there will be the opening of the exhibition of photographer Erik Smits, who has been portraying jazz and improv musicians for several years during the Space Impro concert evenings at De Ruimte. The result is a magnificent imagery of the vibrant scene. With also a short concert by Ab Baars, Joost Buis and Berlinde Deman!
